MEA is known for delivering world class mining engineering education at four Australian universities: Curtin University, The University of New South Wales, The University of Queensland, and The University of Adelaide.

Since 2010, R2Mining (Australasia CostMine Centre) has produced three cost estimating products specific to Australia: the Australian Mine and Mill Equipment Costs Guide (AMME), the Australian Coal Cost Guide (ACCG), and the Australian Metal Cost Guide (AMCG).

Newly released in April 2012, the AMCG is the metal industry’s standard reference for mine cost estimating for all base and precious metals. Based on CostMine’s popular Mining Cost Service, it provides all necessary information for scoping and pre-feasibility studies, including equipment capital costs, supplies, transportation, smelting costs for copper, lead and zinc, metal mining and milling cost indices and historical metal prices. It also includes Australian-based metal mine salaries and wages, and electric power and natural gas costs. The Cost Models section includes models for surface and underground mines, milling operations, and precious metal processing.

The AMME, a comprehensive guide to equipment capital and operating cost data, is available in a hard copy or as an online, interactive database. The interactive database allows the user to select the equipment fleet, adjust the supplies and repair labour costs to reflect local parameters and then download a report to Excel.

The ACCG is the Australian coal mining industry’s most comprehensive data source for pre-feasibility studies. It is the coal centric version of our AMCG, with the added benefit of coal specific cost model and Australian-based coal mine salaries and wages.
