This is EduMine’s most popular webcast, and has been taken by everyone from administrative staff and accountants through to geologists, directors, and CFOs.

The three-day webcast will be held July 23 – 25, 2013, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am Pacific Daylight Time each day. For more information or to register, see the course page.

Presenters Jack Caldwell and Ian Hutchison, along with guest presenters Bernard Brixel, Lawrence Charlebois, and Robert Cooke, will explore mine surface water; mine groundwater; geotechnical principles in mine water balances; and the management and closure of mine tailings, waste rock, and heap leach facilities. The course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of mine waste management: from objectives and approaches to simple equations, principles and practice, and case histories. This webcast is intended to augment the knowledge of those responsible for the hands-on design, construction, operation, and closure of tailings facilities, and similar mine waste structures such as waste rock dumps and spent heap leach pads.

This three-session webcast will be held 25 – 27 June 2013, and you can attend from anywhere. Register before May 24 to receive a 10% Early Bird discount! Last year – after a ten year break - we revived our work on mining labour costs across this vast continent.

In November, CostMine published the African Mining Salaries, Wages and Benefits 2012 report. The success of this report has set us well on our way to providing the African mining industry with the only publicly-available benchmark for employee costing in Africa. This is invaluable information for all those involved in, or wanting to enter, the mining industry in Africa.

Each year we aim to improve our results by increasing the level of detail and broadening the scope, without compromising confidentiality. Part of the work involves a wide-reaching survey of African mine employee costs.

Hence we invite all small and large mining companies, contractors, recruitment agencies, government departments and any other relevant organisations active in the African mining industry to take part in our survey. Your time requirement will be minimal as we will handle as much of the work as possible – even formatting or data input. And there is no charge for participating!

Companies contributing to the 2013 survey will obtain a FREE executive summary as well as a substantial discount on the full report.

Contact Katja Freitag or Juliet Du Preez in our Johannesburg office (+27 11 467 6873) for more information.
