Mining Equipment Capital Costs Increase
By Jennifer Leinart, November 16th, 2011 - PERMALINK
This year, many of the capital costs for mining equipment have changed dramatically. Equipment in the bulk material handling sector saw the largest increases, driven primarily by the price of steel, currency fluctuations and a booming mining industry. Other factors impacting equipment pricing include the EPA’s Final Interim Tier 4 emission standards for diesel powered equipment.
The 2011 edition of the Mine & Mill Equipment Costs: An Estimator’s Guide includes recent increases posted by manufacturers who are taking advantage of vigorous markets for their products in an attempt to recoup rising manufacturing costs, particularly for steel and energy. Even more dramatic than the increase in equipment pricing this year is the increase in equipment operating costs, especially for fuel and lubricants. Any cost estimate done for today’s economics should incorporate these increased costs.
The Guide offers estimators with a convenient source of capital and hourly operating costs for over 3,000 pieces of mining and milling/processing equipment. For more information on the Guide please contact: CostMine - +1 (509) 328-8023 or click here for more information.
